Get to Know Eddie

What inspired you to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner?

Growing up around family members with mental illness was quite the adventure, and my mother, a psychiatric nurse, was the superhero in our story. Watching her compassion and dedication inspired me to follow in her footsteps. I wanted to make a difference and help people find their way, just like she did. Plus, I figured if I could handle my quirky family, I could handle anything!

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?

When I'm not at work, you'll find me binge-watching TV shows, diving into the latest true crime podcast, or hunting for hidden treasures while antiquing. I love reading, but honestly, sometimes I just need to relax and do absolutely nothing. It's all about balance, right?

Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names and what kind are they?

Yes, I have two furry companions who keep life interesting. Baxter is a Chihuahua with the spirit of a lion and the behavior of a naughty toddler, and Bonnie is a Great Dane who thinks she's a lapdog. They bring so much joy and chaos into my life. And let's not forget my husband, Conor, who's been my rock and partner in crime for over 10 years. Our household is never boring!

What was your favorite book or TV show as a child, and why?

As a kid, I couldn't read in the first grade, which was a bit of a challenge. But then I discovered the Goosebumps series, and it was like a light bulb went off. Those spooky stories sparked my love of literature and turned me into an avid reader. The mix of horror and humor kept me hooked and made reading an adventure.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to heal people and animals. I can't stand to see anyone in pain, and being able to offer instant relief would be incredible. Plus, I'd never have to worry about stepping on a LEGO again!

What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

People might be surprised to learn about my eclectic taste in television. While I steer clear of anything too serious and avoid the national news like the plague, I'm a huge fan of HGTV, any reality show on Bravo, and, believe it or not, professional wrestling. Yes, professional wrestling! I've been a lifelong fan, and there's just something fascinating about the drama and theatrics. It's my guilty pleasure, and I love every minute of it.
